It's exactly the kind of tree the Oklahoma native loves.

\"We had the same decorations every year, but there was something so nice about the familiar, just having that comfort...\" she recalled. \"By the time I was in my teens, they were gross-looking, but I did not want any new ones.\"

\"Any time mom would ever suggest getting new ornaments ... I was like, 'No! I love that 1980 ornament that one of your students ... that you probably don't even remember who it was brought you,'\" she admitted.

It's a Yuletide tradition she plans to continue with her boys.

\"I want them to see their pictures from when they were little or that thing they made in kindergarten hanging on the tree. It won't be Pinterest-worthy, but it's definitely got a lot of heart,\" she said.

Underwood previously opened up to \"Good Morning America\" about more of her family's holiday traditions.

\"We always go to church, that's an important part of our lives year-round and I feel it's especially important to remember the reason we celebrate the holidays in the first place,\" she said. \"We love decorating the house as a family -- the boys have their own tree they get to put anything they want on it.\"

She also shared how the family is celebrating. \"Our family is in Oklahoma and Canada, but like everyone, we aren't sure what this year will bring in terms of being able to travel,\" she said. \"But at least the four of us will be together and that's what matters most.\"
