Moore and McCarthy starred in the 1985 film as Julianna \"Jules\" Van Patten and Kevin Dolenz, respectively. Their castmates included Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Andie MacDowell and Mare Winningham.

The film, co-written and directed by Joel Schumacher, who died in 2020, centered on a group of friends adjusting to the realities of adulthood after graduating from college.

Many of the \"St. Elmo's Fire\" cast, including McCarthy and Moore, were members of a group nicknamed the \"Brat Pack\" in the '80s, a group of burgeoning actors who frequently starred in coming-of-age films together.
