ABC News Goes Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

— -- This October, ABC News is going pink to raise awareness about breast cancer, a disease that more than 220,000 American women are diagnosed with each year and about one in eight women will be diagnosed with during the course of their lifetimes.

Throughout the month, we’ll bring you the information you need to spot the signs, know your risks and protect yourself. While some factors are hereditary, others are in your control.

We’ll also bring you stories from real women who have experienced the disease and all that comes with it. You’ll hear from a patient blogger about why she chose to participate in a clinical trial, and you’ll learn about a woman who had to navigate sex during treatment.

We’ll also tackle breast cancer-related fertility issues, treatment during pregnancy and reconstructive surgery.
