— -- An elderly man was recently "brought back to life" after he was attacked by a "huge swarm of bees" outside his home in Buckeye, Arizona, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

Jerry Mora, 71, had been working in his backyard on Tuesday afternoon when his wife Anna, 80, "suddenly heard him screaming and saw him being attacked by hundreds of bees," said Det. Doug Matteson, a spokesman for the sheriff's office.

Anna called 911 and within minutes, sheriff deputies, local fire departments and emergency personnel responded to the scene, Matteson told ABC News. He said that while firefighters sprayed foam to kill off the swarm, others worked on rescuing Jerry, who was found lying face-down on the ground.

"When they got him into the ambulance, he wasn't breathing and he didn't have a pulse anymore," Matteson said. "But while racing to the hospital, some firemen in the ambulance were able to revive him and brought him back to life."
