‘Parasite’ director Bong Joon-ho's interpreter Sharon Choi is writing her own script

Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite" made history at the 2020 Oscars when it became the first non-English movie to win best picture.

The film also won the Oscar for best international feature film, best original screenplay and Bong took home to coveted best director award.

One person that has been by his side throughout award season? His interpreter Sharon Choi.

In a backstage interview at the Academy Awards, Bong spoke to reporters about Choi, who is also a filmmaker and working on a project of her own.

"You already know she’s a filmmaker," Bong said. "And she studied film in the university. Yeah, so I’m so curious about her script. Actually, she's -- she's writing some feature-length script, I'm so curious about it."

He also told The Hollywood Reporter that Choi has amassed "a big fandom" during their time together promoting the South Korean film.

"I'm just a huge fan of this film and all the filmmakers, so it's been great," Choi shared, adding that she was "embarrassed" by the attention and is "always super anxious" before going onstage with the director.

"She is perfect and we all depend of her," Bong shared. "She's also a great filmmaker." Choi also revealed she wants to direct in the future.

One reporter, Steve Pond of The Wrap, tweeted that the focus of Choi's future script will be on awards season itself.

In response to the remark, "Crazy Rich Asians" star Henry Golding expressed his interest in participating in the project.

"I'm free this summer 🙋🏻‍♂️" he tweeted.

We'll have to stay tuned to see what Choi reveals.

A representative for "Parasite" has not responded to a request for comment.
