Buddy Valastro questions whether he can bake again due to hand injury

"Cake Boss" star Buddy Valastro has doubts about his professional future given his recent hand injury.

The Carlo's Bakery owner, who sustained nerve, tendon and muscle damage in his right hand during a gruesome bowling accident, told People magazine that he doesn't know if he'll be able to craft his famous cakes again.

Valastro underwent surgery and has months of physical therapy ahead of him.

"I have a thing with my hands. If I get a paper cut on my hand, I'm pissed off. My hands to me are my lifeline of everything I do," he said. "And I wonder, 'Am I ever going to do what I used to be able to do?'"

Valastro, 43, was bowling in his home bowling alley on Sept. 20 when a pinsetter punctured his hand. The baker told People that as a result of the malfunction, he was "stuck in a machine" until his sons and brother-in-law were able to free him using pliers and a saw.

″It's really preliminary right now, but they're saying it's definitely going to be a long road to recovery,″ he said.
