Gwyneth Paltrow stars in a new television series "The Politician," out Friday, but that doesn't mean acting is where her heart is.
The star spoke about the evolution of her career and her interests off the screen during a conversation with Kargo CEO Harry Kargman at Advertising Week on Thursday.
"I wouldn’t say I’m that passionate about it anymore," she said of acting. "I have had a lot of good luck and a lot of hard work, which led to a really good film career … at a certain point I felt like it wasn’t what I wanted to do … so I did a little pivot."

But she actually decided to join the cast of "The Politician" because of a personal connection.
"I married a TV writer … he’s fantastic, but he sort of dragged me back to the old job," she told Kargman.
Despite that reluctance, she said the show has "a very specific tone" and thinks it's "really good."
Her main focus seems to be continuing to build on the success of her lifestyle brand Goop.

Part of the process of building the company is making mistakes, she shared.
"I’ve made every mistake in the book … it’s been definitely trial by fire… You have to make mistakes. We all make mistakes every single day of our lives, [but] it’s what makes you a good entrepreneur and an interesting person," she shared.
