Lizzo says her late dad would be 'so proud' of her 'Mandalorian' cameo

Lizzo's cameo in this week's new episode of "The Mandalorian" on Disney+ is a full-circle moment for her -- in more ways than one.

In addition to uniting her and Grogu -- whom she also received as a life-size doll as a birthday present and whom she dressed up as for Halloween -- the cameo also holds a special connection in relation to Lizzo's late father, who died in 2009.

"When I was a young girl my dad introduced me to Star Wars like a rite of passage," Lizzo wrote in an Instagram post shared Thursday, adding that the films "are his favorite movies and quickly became mine."

The Grammy winner said when "The Mandalorian" creator Jon Favreau called and offered her the part of The Dutchess she "cried all day wishing my dad was still with us cus he'd be so proud."

"Star Wars was a dream I never thought was possible," Lizzo added, crediting Favreau, Bryce Dallas Howard -- who directed the episode in which she appeared -- and "everyone in the galaxy" for making it possible for her to say "I am now part of the ever-expanding saga of the stars."

"I am in honorable company and forever grateful," she concluded. "This is The Way.... and May the Force be with you."

Alongside Lizzo's heartfelt caption she included a series of photos of her with Grogu as well as fellow guest stars Jack Black and Christopher Lloyd.

This week's episode of "The Mandalorian," titled "Guns for Hire," chronicled Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze and Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin on a trip to uncharted planet Plazir-15 to a meeting with the leaders of "the only remaining direct democracy in the Outer Rim."

Those leaders -- The Duchess and Captain Bombardier -- were played, respectively, by Lizzo and Black.

Lizzo's character explains she was part of the planet's royal family, and they now act as the leaders of the democracy with Black's character, a former Imperial officer tasked with rebuilding the planet.

The pair met and fell in love in the interim, she explains. "We are both royals and elected leaders," he says proudly.

Before hiring Din and Bo-Katan to deal with a problem of rogue droids, Lizzo's Duchess get a chance to play with and feed Grogu.

The episode also features Lloyd as Commissioner Helgait, who oversees the increasingly troublesome droids on which the pampered society relies.
