Lizzo is putting in her bid to star in Disney's live-action adaptation of "The Little Mermaid," following a report from Variety that teased Melissa McCarthy is in talks for the role of Ursula.

Over the weekend, the "Truth Hurts" singer took to Twitter to remind the world why she would also be a perfect fit for the villainous character.

When it was initially published, Lizzo responded to Variety's story with a sad face emoji.

She then followed up her reaction by retweeting a playful video of her best Ursula impression, in which she belts out one of the animated film's signature tracks, "Poor Unfortunate Souls."

The clip, which was originally posted last November, could easily pass for an audition tape, as it features Lizzo performing the song while in full hair and makeup as the underwater character.

Fans quickly flooded the vocalist's profile with tweets of support, as well as criticism. Some even went as far as claiming that they would not watch the film unless Disney decided to cast the singer.

According to Variety, however, McCarthy is simply in "early talks" to star as the evil sea witch and the deal has yet to be finalized.
