Miley Cyrus delivered an emotional performance of her new song "Slide Away" at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night.

While many were struck by the artist's incredible vocals during the heart-wrenching performance, some eagle-eyed fans noticed the artist's new ink.

Cyrus sported a new tattoo on her left bicep -- a lyric from the Pixies song "The Thing," reading, "My head was feeling scared, but my heart was feeling free."

Many fans believe the new ink, reportedly by artist Winter Stone, is in reference to her recent breakup with husband Liam Hemsworth.

The singer also visited famed artist Doctor Woo after her recent vacation in Italy and got a tattoo inspired by a sculpture she found on her travels. The artist shared a close-up of the new art on his account.

The additional body art comes after Cyrus released "Slide Away" shortly after news of her split from Hemsworth broke.

She later sent a series of tweets denying cheating and other rumored factors contributing to her split.
