Romantics everywhere and fans of the beloved 2004 film, "The Notebook," were outraged when it finally hit Netflix in the U.K., but with an alternate ending.

The version of the film that streamed on the Netflix U.K. reportedly cut out the iconic scene of Noah and Allie in their nursing room bed together -- when dementia-stricken Allie remembers Noah -- and replaced it with shots of birds flying over a lake.

The internet was absolutely not having it, and inundated the streaming service's Twitter feed with a deluge of angry, all-caps questions until they were forced to respond.

Netflix U.K. and Ireland said that they did not edit the notebook and an "alternate version exists and was supplied to us" but assured everyone that they are "getting to the bottom of it asap."

Netflix U.S. assured fans that the film, which is supposed to hit the streaming service March 1, will be "the version that has always made you sob."
