Late director Rob Reiner received a posthumous Emmy nomination for his role as Albert Schnur in season 4 of "The Bear," six months after his tragic death.
The nomination, announced by the Television Academy on Wednesday morning, comes in the outstanding guest actor in a comedy series category.
The nomination marks Reiner's eighth Emmy nod, and would be his third win after two he got for his "All In The Family" role -- best supporting actor in a comedy n 1974 and outstanding continuing performance by a supporting actor in a comedy series in 1978.
Along with his eight Emmy nominations, Reiner also scored a Best Picture Oscar nomination for directing "A Few Good Men."
Other nominees in the category include Michael J. Fox and Brett Goldstein for their roles in "Shrinking," Hamish Linklater for his role in "Widow's Bay," Christopher McDonald for his role in "Hacks" and Connor Storrie for his appearance on "Saturday Night Live."
Reiner appeared in several episodes of the fast-paced highly acclaimed kitchen drama "The Bear" as Schnur, an advisor brought in to mentor Ebraheim, who successfully runs The Beef, the sandwich window at the back of The Bear restaurant.
In July 2025, while speaking to People about the 41st anniversary re-release of "This Is Spinal Tap," he said that he credits Jamie Lee Curtis for encouraging him to take on the role of Albert in the hit FX series.
"It was so much fun to do," Reiner said at the time. "It's fun to act, and I love acting because it's no worries. You just show up and do your work."
The filmmaker and actor, was found killed with his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, in their family home in December 2025. Reiner's son, Nick Reiner, 32, was charged with the murders of his parents.
Reiner pleaded not guilty to murder charges in February.
FX is owned by Disney, parent company of ABC News and "Good Morning America."
