"Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu" is set to hit Disney+ on Sept. 2 following its theatrical release earlier this year, Disney announced in a press release Friday.
"On September 2, fans can join Din Djarin and his young apprentice, Grogu, on their most thrilling mission yet when Lucasfilm's 'Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu' streams exclusively on Disney+," the release stated. "Their first feature film, a standalone adventure which will captivate new audiences while rewarding longtime fans, is the ultimate viewing experience at home."
The film follows the titular duo -- first introduced to fans in the popular "Mandalorian" series on Disney+ -- on a new mission, an "action-packed, thrilling, fun, and heartwarming adventure featuring spectacular visuals, a host of new creatures, exhilarating dogfights, TIE-fighter battles, and plenty of surprises," according to the release.
A synopsis for the film states, "The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu."
In addition to Pascal, the film also stars Jeremy Allen White as Rotta the Hutt and Sigourney Weaver as Colonel Ward, a fighter and pilot from the same Rebellion that took down the Empire in the first "Star Wars" trilogy.
"Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu" was directed by Jon Favreau, who co-wrote the script with Dave Filoni and Noah Kloor.
The film has a total run time of 2 hours and 12 minutes, according to AMC Theaters.
Disney also announced an official podcast associated with the film, which debuts on Disney+ Sept. 2, as well as a new animated special, "LEGO 'Star Wars': The Mandalorian," debuting on the streaming platform the same day.
