Alongside the first set photo of Adams and Shankman, Walt Disney Studios shared in a tweet: "Good morning! Amy Adams and @adammshankman here taking over @DisneyStudios for a bit. Wanted to get a few friends together to tell the story of what 'ever after' looks like…"

It was previously announced that the stars of the 2007 Oscar-nominated film -- Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Idina Menzel -- will return for the sequel to reprise their roles.

Adams famously played Giselle, a princess who finds herself lost in New York City, far from her home in the fictional land of Andalasia -- while Dempsey starred opposite the actress as the man she falls for, Robert. The sequel picks up with Gisele and Robert married, and their former partners, Nancy (Idina Menzel) and Prince Edward (James Marsden) also together.

The star-studded cast of "Disenchanted" also includes Maya Rudolph, Kolton Stewart, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jayma Mays and Oscar Nunez.

Shankman said getting the cast back together for the Disney production has been "like coming home."

"With Amy and this extraordinary cast, Alan and Stephen's mind blowing new score, and Barry and Disney's support, I just hope to bring magic and joy to audiences around the world," he said in a statement.

The film is slated to debut on Disney+ in 2022. A subscription to Disney+ costs $7.99 per month or $79.99 per year, and a bundle consisting of Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ costs $13.99 per month.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News and "Good Morning America."
