Written under the duress of a 105-degree fever, "Two Ways Out" represents Darker My Love's fervent belief that a positive outlook can get you out of any situation, even at your lowest moment.

Initially a side project, Darker My Love was formed by high school friends Tim Presely (guitars, vocals) and Andy Granelli (drums) in 2001. Both originally played for the Nerve Agents before teaming up in Darker My Love with Rob Barbato (bass, vocals) and Jared Everett (guitar). They later were joined by Will Canzoneri (organ, clavinet) in 2006.

Hailing from as far afield as the Bay Area, Pennsylvania and Mississippi, or as they like to put it: "5 guys, 4 cities," Darker My Love's influences are spread out just as far, including bands like The Stone Roses, Pink Floyd and The Weeds.

Most agree that their sound is something close to mixing The Beach Boys with The Jesus and Mary Chain.

"Two Ways Out" is the first single off their sophomore album, appropriately titled "2." Rob Barbato says that the album is a manual to help deal with daily existence.

"If you set out with that manual trying to find the path of this band," he says, "make sure your checklist contains notes on the tribal vehemence of a kick drum pattern, the alluring purr of a violently overdriven Gibson bass, the manic concoction of black groove and hard white rock, and, by all means, make sure you spell clavinet correctly."
