Golden Globes 2025: Stars stun on the red carpet

The 2025 Golden Globes kicked off awards season Sunday night as the best in film and television were honored.

Brady Corbet's "The Brutalist" and Jacques Audiard's "Emilia Pérez" were big winners of the night on the film side, winning best motion picture (drama) and best motion picture (musical or comedy), respectively. "Wicked" took home the award for cinematic and box office achievement.

On the television side, "Shōgun," "Hacks" and "Baby Reindeer" won the top prizes.

Comedian Nikki Glaser hosted the ceremony, which was held at Los Angeles' famed Beverly Hilton.

Who won at the 2024 Golden Globes?

The 2024 Golden Globes saw shows like "Succession," "The Bear," and "Beef" take home the night's top prizes in television categories, while "Oppenheimer" and "Poor Things" won the top film awards.

Paul Giamatti won best performance by a male actor in a motion picture (musical or comedy) for "The Holdovers" while Emma Stone took home best performance by a female actor in a motion picture (musical or comedy) for "Poor Things." Cillian Murphy won best performance by a male actor in a motion picture (drama) for "Oppenheimer" while Lily Gladstone won best performance by a female actor in a motion picture (drama) for "Killers of the Flower Moon."

For television, the top awards went to "Succession" actors Kieran Culkin and Sarah Snook as well as "The Bear" actors Ayo Edebiri and Jeremy Allen White. "Beef" actors Ali Wong and Steven Yeun also took home trophies.

Who is nominated at the 2025 Golden Globes?

Stars like Denzel Washington, Demi Moore, Timothée Chalamet, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are up for some of the top awards at the 2025 Golden Globes.

Selena Gomez and Kate Winslet are up for awards in both the film and television categories, while Sebastian Stan is double-nominated for two separate movies.

There are 26 first-time nominees this year, including Gomez, Grande, Glen Powell, Kathryn Hahn, Pamela Anderson, Zoe Saldaña and more.

Who is hosting the 2025 Golden Globes?

Nikki Glaser is the host for the 2025 Golden Globe Awards.

She is the first woman in Golden Globes history to host the awards show solo.

The comedian is known for her work on celebrity roasts, including 2024's "The Roast of Tom Brady," as well as her comedy specials "Good Clean Filth" and "Someday You'll Die," the latter of which is nominated for a Golden Globe for best stand-up comedy performance this year.

Glaser is also a podcast host and has appeared in films like "Trainwreck" and "I Feel Pretty."

Colin Farrell won the Golden Globe for best performance by a male actor in a limited series, anthology series or a motion picture made for television for "The Penguin."

This is Farrell's third Golden Globe win, having previously won for "In Bruges" and "The Banshees of Inisherin."

Other nominees in the category included Richard Gadd for "Baby Reindeer," Kevin Kline for "Disclaimer," Cooper Koch for "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story," Ewan McGregor for "A Gentleman in Moscow" and Andrew Scott for "Ripley."
