Amanda Kloots reflects on 1-year LA anniversary: 'We were so excited for this new adventure'
Fitness trainer Amanda Kloots, her late husband, Broadway star Nick Cordero, and their son, Elvis, now 15 months old, relocated from New York City to Los Angeles one year ago today.
In a sentimental Instagram post, Kloots recalled that the timing of the move, one day before Cordero's birthday, seemed especially auspicious.
"What a way to kick off your 41st year," she remembered thinking at the time. "We were so excited for this new adventure."
"I can’t believe how much can and has changed in just one year," she continued. "Everything is completely different. My life is so different. Elvis has grown so much and is completely different."
Cordero was 41 years old when he died in July following a monthslong battle with COVID-19 and its complications. During his hospitalization, the actor, who earned a Tony nomination in 2014 for his role in "Bullets Over Broadway," sustained several lung infections and required a leg amputation.
Still, Kloots remained optimistic about her husband's prognosis and encouraged fans to sing his song, "Live Your Life," every afternoon. When Cordero died, she wrote in an Instagram post that he was "surrounded in love by his family, singing and praying."
"He was an incredible actor and musician. He loved his family and loved being a father and husband," she added. "Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, everyday."
