— -- Newly-engaged "Bachelor" couple Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell say they are ready to start their life together, away from the cameras.

"I’m looking forward to just starting a normal life," Bushnell said today on "Good Morning America." "We’ve been engaged but secretly for the last few weeks and so I’m excited to go on a date."

Higgins, 27, popped the question to Bushnell, 25, on the season finale of "The Bachelor" Monday night.

The couple had immediate chemistry but hit road bumps as Higgins also developed feelings for JoJo Fletcher and told both women, "I love you."

Bushnell revealed she has chosen to watch just "bits and pieces" of "The Bachelor" as her relationship with Higgins unfolded.

"I’ve watched mostly just our parts because obviously that’s so nice to relive," she said. "I just don’t know if it’s necessary to relive the other parts."

Bushnell also said she always thought it "could be a possibility" of Higgins falling in love with another woman at the same time.

"So I wasn’t shocked initially and I think that day he did get down on one knee and then told me and was just totally honest, I think from that day we really just made a commitment to move forward," Bushnell said.

The couple, who will be in New York City for a few days, said they are looking forward to discovering new things about each other.

"Ben is very much a morning person and I am not so much so that was just one of those little adjustments that you make when you get engaged," Bushnell said.

"Lauren makes amazing breakfast sandwiches," Higgins said of what he's discovered about his new fiancee.

The couple said they had no qualms about not getting married on TV.

"We’ve done this fairly odd the way it is, like let’s try to make it as normal as possible from here on out," Higgins said.
