Beyoncé wins 1st Emmy Award, now halfway to EGOT status
Beyoncé's renaissance is showing no signs of slowing down!
The "Texas Hold 'Em" singer won her first Emmy Award this week, after her Netflix special "Beyoncé Bowl" won for outstanding costumes for variety, nonfiction or reality programming, one of the juried categories -- awards determined by a panel of experts and professionals -- for which winners were announced Tuesday.
Beyoncé was listed as one of the costume designers for the show, which was nominated for four other honors at the 77th Emmy Awards.
Beyoncé's latest win means she is halfway to earning EGOT status, which one achieves by earning an Emmy Award, Grammy Award, Oscar or Academy Award and Tony Award.
The pop megastar already has 35 Grammy Awards out of 99 nominations, making her the most-awarded and most-nominated artist in Grammy history.
One of Beyoncé's Grammy Awards is the coveted album of the year award, which she won in February for "Cowboy Carter," her country concept album.
