Britney Spears posts throwback video her mom sent to inspire her to sing again

Britney Spears shared a sweet reminder her mother had sent her in the form of a throwback video.

Taking to Instagram on Friday, the Grammy winner shared an old performance of her singing "You Got It All" and revealed just how much her mother's gentle nudge meant to her.

"Geez … My mom sent this to me and reminded me that I can sing," Spears, 39, wrote in the caption. "She said 'You never sing anymore … you need to again !!!!'"

"I’ve actually never watched this performance," the singer continued, explaining just how far back the video took her by adding, "it’s definitely from a while ago."

"It’s from one of the first trips I took alone ... mostly I just remember saying 'WOW Singapore,'" Spears concluded.

Several artists raved about Spears' voice in the comment section, with singers like Jordin Sparks and Elle King leaving her encouraging notes.

"You Got It All" appeared on international edition of Spears' sophomore album, "Oops!... I Did It Again," which she released in 2000. The song, originally a cover of The Jets' 1986 hit, was originally intended to appear on Spears' debut album as a bonus track.

Spears' note about not singing anymore may be a nod to it being nearly three years since her final performance. when her "Piece of Me" tour wrapped in October 2018.
