Ciara pens powerful message to son Future in the wake of George Floyd's death

Ciara shared a powerful message on social media for her 6-year-old son, Future Zahir, in the wake of George Floyd's death.

The 46-year-old black man was killed while in police custody in Minneapolis on Memorial Day after former police officer Derek Chauvin put his knee on Floyd's neck for nearly nine minutes, causing Floyd to gasp for air.

Floyd's tragic death has sparked protests across the country as well as around the world.

Ciara started her post by writing, "My sweet Baby Boy. I pray that when you get older A CHANGE will finally have come!! I’m going to keep my FAITH! I’m praying that the losses of our Black Kings and Queens won’t be in vain."

"Enough is Enough!" Ciara's post concluded. "I’m praying for UNITY! I’m praying for the powers that be to unite and decide that it’s time for a change!"

The "Get Up" singer shares her son with her ex, the rapper Future. Ciara is also mom to daughter Sienna Princess, 3, with husband Russell Wilson, whom she is also currently expecting another child.

Additionally, Nick Cannon spoke about how Floyd's death affected him and his fears as a parent.

"My kids are scared of police officers," he wrote in an essay for Variety, referencing the twins he shares with Mariah Carey, 9-year-old Moroccan and Monroe, as well as son Golden Cannon, 3, whom he shares with Brittany Bell. "In their minds, they’re the bad guys."
