Well that was one heck of a premiere Sunday night as "Game of Thrones" roared back into people's homes across the globe to the tune of 17.4 million viewers, a record for HBO.

Oh yeah, major spoilers ahead!

The biggest shock of the night wasn't from the audience though but our favorite brooding hero -- Jon Snow.

As Daeny and Jorah were meeting the beloved Samwell Tarly, Daeny realizes that she had her dragons burn Sam's father and brother to death for refusing to bend the knee to her. After relaying this awkward fact, a tearful Sam excuses himself.

This was an honest display by the new queen but one that may come back to haunt her.

Sam runs into Bran, who tells him that it's time to inform Jon of his true lineage -- that he's the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, and the true heir to the Iron Throne.

Sam finds Jon and informs him of this important fact. At first, he is in disbelief and says it's Daeny who is queen. But Sam persists and that's how we leave things until next week.

Kit Harington, who plays Snow on the show, spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the revelation and says it's “the most upsetting thing in the world” to him.

“If Jon could go back in time and say: ‘Whatever you’re about to say, don’t tell me,’ he would,” the actor said. "He finds out such a massive piece of information. Not only does he find out who his mother is but also that he’s related to the person he’s in love with."

Since the audience already knows this information from last season, there's even more of a focus on what Jon says in response to this news, according to Harington.

"With Jon, it’s about what he says, ‘You’re telling me my father lied to me? My father, the most honorable man I’ve known my entire life, you’re saying that?’ For that moment, Samwell is nothing to him. Jon would disown this friend and beat him up if he was trying to lie to him about this," he said.

With his new claim to the throne, don't expect Jon to jump at the opportunity.

"He doesn’t f----- want it. He doesn’t want that f----- information. He doesn’t want to know. He has no ambition for the throne. He’s never wanted that," Harington said.
