The singer previously opened up about her extensive battle with addiction on The Recovery podcast, where she said she first started drinking because she grappled with low self esteem while at boarding school.

Following the release of her 2006 album "Alright, Still," the singer said she started to experiment with drugs and her addiction worsened. She said she eventually hit rock bottom after touring with Miley Cyrus on her 2014 Bangerz Tour, where she cheated on then-husband Sam Cooper, causing her marriage to end.
