Ryan Lochte Spoof Closes 2016 MTV VMAs
— -- The 2016 MTV VMAs are a wrap and it was a fun night, filled with epic performances and iconic moments.
Beyonce slayed with a 15-minute performance, Rihanna grabbed a lifetime achievement award, and a Ryan Lochte spoof closed the show. Here are the top 5 highlights.
1 - Kanye's Rambling Speech
Kenye West was given a handful of minutes to say whatever he wanted. His meandering speech touched on his feud with Taylor Swift, poverty and senseless killing in America. The speech was rambling but with memorable moments, like the shout-out he gave to Amber Rose, his ex, who was sitting in the audience.
2 - Beyonce
Bey crushed it, plain and simple. The show's centerpiece 15-minute performance featured her picking up a bat and smashing one of the MTV cameras. The network didn't seem to mind as she rocked Madison Square Garden with classic songs from her album, "Lemonade." The fans in attendance were floored.
Later, the U.S. Gymnastics team met the Queen and were in heaven.
3 - Britney B-----
Britney Spears made her big comeback at the VMAs, looking like the Spears of the early 2000's. She rocked a sultry sheer yellow number and performed, "Make Me” and then “Me Myself and I" alongside G Easy.
4 - Rihanna
The Vanguard Award winner performed five times throughout the night and closed the show with "Stay," "Diamonds" and some other hits. Along with Beyonce, it really was a night for celebrating the best female singers in the business, and Rihanna is right there at the top.
Drake handed Rihanna the Vanguard award to end the night and said a few words about the famed singer. He spoke about meeting Rihanna in 2005 and said "she's kept ascending to an untouchable level ever since."
"When it comes to fashion and style, she makes it look effortless," he added. "What's most impressive is the person."
"This is such an amazing night, such an amazing moment in my career," she said, accepting the award.
5 - Ryan Lochte Spoof
Comedian Jimmy Fallon introduced the Video of the Year by dressing up as Lochte and singing Justin Bieber's "Sorry."
"That’s my jam. I wrote that song," he joked, then said he directed all five nominees for the night's big award. He also made a joke about having "a gun to my head."
Michael Phelps had a pretty hilarious reaction.
