Victoria Beckham will not be joining the Spice Girls on their upcoming reunion tour and has wished them the best in their upcoming appearances.

Band member Melanie Chisholm, known as Mel C, spoke about her former groupmate's decision during a recent appearance on the "Out To Lunch with Jay Rayner" podcast.

"I'm sure, Victoria wouldn’t mind me saying, the Olympics was hard for her," Mel C told Rayner. The Spice Girls last performed together at the Summer Olympics closing ceremony in London in 2012.

"You know, she's moved on, her life has changed, and she just doesn't have that love of performing, and in fact, it completely petrifies her," she shared.

This will be the singing group's first tour in over a decade, and the other members, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton and Geri Halliwell, along with Mel C, will perform.

Beckham announced she would not be taking part in the tour in an Instagram post in November 2018.

"I won't be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year," she captioned her post. "I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time!"

She said that it wasn't a difficult decision to not take part in the reunion when she stopped by "Good Morning America" in January 2019.

"I can’t wait to take the kids and see it but, you know, with my business now I just wouldn’t be able to do it, but I wish them so much luck," she shared.

Mel C said she understood Beckham's decision to not participate.

"She's extremely busy and successful in what she's doing," she shared on the podcast. "She has put her heart and soul into her business, and to step away from that, and not give it the time that she does at the moment would be difficult."

"But also, I'm sure, if she felt passionate about being on stage and loved it, then she'd be there," she added. "We're all sad that Victoria won’t be joining us, but it's all genuinely very supportive you know, obviously understand and support her."

This will be the band's first tour in over a decade.
