Vince Vaughn talks playing double roles in 'Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice'
Vince Vaughn fans can prepare for a double-dose of the comedian in his latest project, "Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice."
The "Wedding Crashers" star plays two roles in the adventure comedy, Nick and Nick from the future.
"It was fun playing both parts because they're the same character just at different stages in their life," Vaughn said in an interview that aired Wednesday on "Good Morning America."
The new movie, streaming March 27 on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+, follows two gangsters and their romantic love interest as they try to survive a night of danger, with a time machine mixed into the plot.
"There's a lot of action, a lot fights, and it's so well done," Vaughn said of the film, directed by BenDavid Grabinski and starring Eiza González and James Marsden, in addition to Vaughn.
Vaughn also broke down the technology needed to make sure he stayed on track, playing two different roles in the film.
"The technology was interesting and the timing becomes important so you can hear your voice in your ear for what you recorded because you have to sort of match it," he said. "It's me acting all the scenes, but it feels as if you have two Nicks."
Vaughn's career has been marked by hit comedy after hit comedy, playing iconic roles in massively popular films like "Swingers," "Dodgeball," "Wedding Crashers," "The Internship" and more.
Vaughn said some of his comedic success can be traced to his use of language.
"One thing I always did was I would try to write original slang, or take existing slang and advance it so that you're not just repeating stuff that's going on. You just find new ways of saying something," he said.
Vaughn, who shares two children, ages 15 and 12, with Kyla Weber, said his children tend to find out about his movies secondhand, rather than from him.
"Sometimes they would go to friends' houses and their parents would show them, which is strange," Vaughn said. "They come home and say, 'Oh I saw this. I said, 'Really?' They said, 'Yeah, they put it on.' I said, 'Oh that's weird.'"
