Skydiving couple gets married after 14,000-foot jump
One couple took their love to new heights on their wedding day.
Professional skydivers Mike Missroon and Megan Walsh kicked off their wedding celebration by jumping out of a plane from 14,000 feet alongside members of their wedding party.
The couple, who are both instructors at Skydive Seneca Lake, made the jump in upstate New York with their officiant, best man, maid of honor, bridesmaids and groomsmen, reaching speeds of up to 120 mph.
For their wedding jump, Walsh wore a thrifted wedding dress that she modified so she could safely wear her skydiving equipment underneath.
"I did jump in a wedding dress that I thrifted and modified myself so that my leg straps could go under it kind of like a wing suit," Walsh told ABC News. "I also jumped with a bouquet."
Missroon made the jump wearing a suit.
"It was like very theatrical," Walsh said.
After landing, Walsh's former students held up her parachute while she changed into another wedding dress for the rest of the celebration.
"I did a quick change into an actual nice wedding dress," she said.
Skydiving has been a special part of Missroon and Walsh's relationship from the start.
The two first met when Missroon was Walsh's tandem skydiving instructor. They later got engaged during another skydive, with Walsh yelling "yes" after her parachute opened.
