Guam braces for Super Typhoon Bavi, which may hit at Category 5 hurricane strength

Residents of the U.S. territory of Guam are bracing for potentially catastrophic conditions from Super Typhoon Bavi, which may hit the Western Pacific island as a Category 5 storm. 

Super Typhoon Bavi has winds of 145 mph, which is the equivalent of a Category 4 hurricane, as of Friday morning ET, which is very early Saturday morning in Guam.

The super typhoon is expected to pass between Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands on Sunday night and Monday morning local time, which is Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon ET.

Winds near the center of the typhoon could be around 165 mph as it passes the islands, equivalent to a Category 5 hurricane.
