Met Gala 2025: Simone Biles steps out in blue minidress
Gymnast Simone Biles dazzled in blue at the Met Gala on Monday night.
The Olympic gold medalist, who attended the star-studded affair with her husband Jonathan Owens, wore a short minidress with a collared neckline and long train.
While speaking to Vogue, she said preparing for a Met Gala is more stressful than preparing for the Olympics.
"I got in yesterday, we did all the fittings, so it's just more stressful," she said.
She and Owens also added that tomorrow is their anniversary.
Ahead of the event, Biles teased her look while attending the Kentucky Derby over the weekend.
While she didn't reveal the designer behind her look or what kind of outfit she would wear, she did say that she would be wearing heels.
"I think they're telling me I'm going to wear at least 5- to 6-inch heels, so that will be so interesting," she told People.
She added that the choice of heels is "a little bit higher than most times."
Although she and Owens matched in purple over the weekend at the Kentucky Derby, Biles said they worked with different designers for the Met Gala. However, their looks still complemented each other.
"We'll be cohesive with one another, so that's really exciting to share another moment," she said.
Biles is on the host committee for this year's gala. She said that the role hasn't been extensive or time consuming, which has given her time to focus on her outfit.
"Honestly, it's just been designing for the apparel, what I'm going to wear, what my outfit looks like. So, no big, big job, which is also cool, because I've just been so busy. So really just show up, have a good time, wear a beautiful fit, and then just walk the carpet," she said.
This is Biles' second Met Gala. In 2021, she attended the event wearing an 88-pound look designed by Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk of Area. The gown's skirt was covered in Swarovski crystals, according to Vogue.
Also on the host committee are Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Angel Reese and Usher, among several others.
This year's co-chairs are Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams.
LeBron James, who is an honorary chair for this year's gala, announced Monday morning that he will be sitting out the event due to a knee injury he sustained last week during an NBA playoff game.
