Joining the reveal, David Corenswet, who plays the Man of Steel himself in Gunn's 2025 \"Superman\" film, and Nicholas Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor, also teased the announcement by sharing more drawings of the two characters on Instagram with the same caption.

Gunn had hinted at a \"Superman\" follow-up in recent weeks but clarified it would not be a direct sequel.

\"I've already finished the treatment for the next story in what I'll call the 'Superman Saga,'\" Gunn told The Hollywood Reporter in August. \"I'm working on that and hopefully going into production on that not too far away from today.\"

The announcement comes as Gunn's \"Superman\" crosses the $600 million mark at the global box office, currently sitting at $612 million worldwide, according to The Numbers, a film industry data website.

In addition to spotlighting Superman (Corenswet), Lex Luthor (Hoult), and Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan), the 2025 film expanded the DC Universe by bringing in characters like Guy Gardner/Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi) and Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced).
