Gomez opened the event by sharing her experiences with her own mental health struggles and how the Rare Impact Fund had helped youth over the years.

She continued, turning to her cousin in the audience, \"It's alive in the counselor who answers when a teacher says, 'I need help.' That's one of my cousins here tonight. She knows how it feels ... she's a counselor at school, and I admire her for that.\" 

\"It's alive in a parent who now has the tools to support their child through a panic attack,\" she added. \"And it's alive in conversations that once felt impossible. It's happening at kitchen tables, in classrooms and across communities.\"

Gomez said the evening's event \"isn't about looking back, it's about what comes next.\"

\"We're living in a world where pressure, especially on young people, has never been greater from social media bullying to suicide,\" she said. \"Mental health isn't a side issue, though some people may feel that way. It's the foundation of everything.\" 

\"When young people reach out for help, they need to know help exists,\" she added.

Since the Rare Impact Fund was founded in 2019, 1% of all Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez sales have been donated to the Rare Impact Fund, which supports organizations that expand access to mental health services and education for young people globally, according to a press release. 

Celebrities who attended the event included Tay Lautner, Jay and Radhi Shetty, Grace Ann Nader, Mary Holland Nader and Sarah Jane Nader, and Jake Shane.

Lautner, who is a mental health advocate, spoke to \"Good Morning America\" on the carpet, saying she admires Gomez's impact on mental health awareness. 

\"The reach that Selena just herself has and the fact that she wanted to do that with her beauty brand and really take that step in furthering mental health aid is just so cool,\" she said. \"I'm so amazed by everything Rare does.\"

Laufey also lauded Gomez's work with Rare and spoke about their friendship, calling her a \"light of a human being.\"

\"To have artists like that who've really been through it that I can look up to and speak to, I feel so honored to get to be around her in any way,\" the singer added.
