Velvet nails are the coziest trend this winter
The luxurious look goes great with comfy sweaters.

Svarc said the look typically trends this time of the year because \"it’s traditionally a time where we tend to throw caution to the wind, escape our everyday routine and trade in our neutral polishes for some festive color and sparkle. This year especially, because we are being safe and wearing masks, we’re looking for an alternative to a bright red lip, for example, to express ourselves.\"
“Velvet nails is a look created with manicures that mimics the texture and feel of the luxurious fabric,” Charnin Brown-Hayward, founder of Nail Wig Toppings Bar and Nail Wig Stroke Effects, told “GMA.”
According to Brown-Hayward, the style isn’t new and has been around for more than a decade.
“The velvet look is trending right now, because velvet remains timeless with every winter and holiday season in terms of fashion. Pairing fashion with nails has always been key,” Brown-Hayward added.
Brown-Hayward said you can achieve the look by “using a matte nail lacquer, matte topcoat, flocking powder or newly discovered silver magnetic powder.”
For a simpler look, you can also just add a matte top coat on top of any base-colored manicure.
Brown-Hayward predicts metallic embellishments will continue to trend into 2021 with lots of layers, textures and prints.
