Candace Cameron Bure is matching gifts to the Salvation Army up to $10,000 amid coronavirus pandemic

Candace Cameron Bure is using her platform to raise awareness to charitable giving as the novel coronavirus pandemic continues across the globe.

The Hallmark star announced on Monday that she will match donations to The Salvation Army up to $10,000.

In an Instagram post, she wrote that she is partnering with the charity organization because she wants to, "provide hope and comfort to anyone who feels lonely, isolated or concerned with a series of Scripture readings and prayers," amid the global health crisis.

The Salvation Army is helping those in need during the pandemic by supplying drive-thru food pickup and delivery options, shelter and resources like "youth activity kits" for children at home, along with day care options and other methods of assistance.

In a video, the actress acknowledged her privilege and how others can help if they have the means.

"It's hard to understand how we can make ourselves feel useful during such a chaotic time, and yet I have to remind myself -- and I want to remind you -- that many of us are fortunate enough to have homes, have clothes, have food, have access to health care and will have jobs when all of this settles down," she shared.

"So during this pause, there is a tremendous amount you can do by supporting The Salvation Army," she continued.

Bure also promised to share some tips of how to do good for others while social distancing and quarantining.

"In times of great distress, The Salvation Army is a beacon of hope and healing," she said in a press release. "It's important to lean into faith, not fear, and there is a tremendous amount of good we can do while at home by supporting The Salvation Army."

The organization is also offering "spiritual and emotional help" during this time, according to Bure.

The actress is one of the many celebrities raising awareness to and fundraising for different organizations working to help those affected by the pandemic.

Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation donated $5 million in grants to organizations assisting in coronavirus relief efforts and Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos donated $1 million to the New York governor’s office to assist in purchasing more ventilators and WIN, an organization that runs shelters and supportive housing units in New York City.
