Emmy Awards 2024 recap: Biggest moments from the 76th annual awards show

Emmys 2024: The best moments from the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards

The 76th Primetime Emmy Awards honored the best in television Sunday night.

Winning in the major categories for outstanding drama series, outstanding comedy series, and outstanding limited or anthology series were "Shōgun," "Hacks" and "Baby Reindeer," respectively.

"Shōgun" won the most Emmys of any other program this year, taking home 18 total between the Creative Arts Emmys and Primetime Emmy Awards ceremonies, with "The Bear" following close behind with 11 total wins.

Emmys 2024: Every look from the red carpet arrivals

The ceremony featured several standout moments including TV reunions for "Happy Days" and "The West Wing," as well as a powerful "In Memoriam" tribute performance from Jelly Roll honoring stars who died in the past year.

"Schitt's Creek" co-stars Eugene and Dan Levy hosted this year's awards show as the first father-son duo to do so.

‘'The Daily Show' wins outstanding talk series

"The Daily Show" won the Emmy for outstanding talk series.

Billy Crystal presented the award to Jon Stewart, who accepted the Emmy on behalf of the show.

"You have made an old man very happy," Stewart said in his acceptance speech. "This is remarkable, to have an opportunity to work with this incredibly talented group once a week has just been -- it's really made my Mondays."

Other nominees in the category included "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" "Late Night With Seth Meyers" and "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert."

'Hacks' wins Emmy for outstanding writing for a comedy series

Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs and Jen Statsky won the Emmy for outstanding writing for a comedy series for "Hacks."

"It made one lonely weirdo and two semi-popular girls feel connected to other people," Downs joked in his acceptance speech.

The team also thanked cast members Hannah Einbinder and Jean Smart.

Other nominees in the category included Quinta Brunson for "Abbott Elementary," Christopher Storer and Joanna Calo for "The Bear," Meredith Scardino and Sam Means for "Girls5eva," Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider for "The Other Two," and Jake Bender and Zach Dunn for "What We Do In The Shadows."

Steven Zaillian wins outstanding directing for a limited or anthology series or movie for 'Ripley'

Steven Zaillian won the Emmy for outstanding directing for a limited or anthology series or movie for "Ripley."

Zaillian thanked the cast of "Ripley," including Andrew Scott and Dakota Fanning, in his acceptance speech.

Other nominees in the category included Weronika Tofilska for "Baby Reindeer," Noah Hawley for "Fargo," Gus Van Sant for "Feud: Capote vs. The Swans," Millicent Shelton for "Lessons In Chemistry" and Issa López for "True Detective: Night Country."

"Last Week Tonight with John Oliver" won the Emmy for outstanding scripted variety series.

"Saturday Night Live" was also nominated.

Olympic medalist Stephen Nedoroscik hits the red carpet

Olympic gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik posed for photos on the red carpet in a black tuxedo ahead of the 76th Emmys.

Nedoroscik rose to prominence at the 2024 Paris Olympics for his jaw-dropping performance on the pommel horse, bringing home a bronze medal on the apparatus, as well as a second bronze for the men's artistic team all-around.

Nedoroscik was recently announced as a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars."
