January was a roller coaster of emotions for Jodie Sweetin.

The "Full House" alum announced her engagement on Jan. 17, just two days before her milestone 40th birthday. This, of course, was about a week after she tragically lost her TV dad, Bob Saget, on Jan. 9.

"It's been a rough couple weeks. It was such a shock," Sweetin told "Good Morning America" on Monday of Saget's death. "It happened so suddenly and to lose someone who was such a wonderful, big, shining personality like that in all of our lives, it's been a lot."

"But I know that Bob would love nothing more than the fact that everyone has been talking about him," she added. "He would be so thrilled to know that everyone was thinking about him."

Sweetin said she asked herself if she should celebrate her engagement and birthday so soon after Saget died. She decided that "Bob would want nothing more than for [her] to be happy."

"I'm so thrilled. My life is so beautiful and wonderful right now," the actress gushed. "My family is healthy and happy. I have an amazing fiancé. My kids are good. I'm working. I'm incredibly grateful."

Sweetin said the "Full House" cast's family group chat is "missing a lot without Bob in it now," but she finds solace in one of the life lessons Saget taught her.

"One of the things I learned from Bob and, you know, even now in having to walk through his death and everything is how to laugh through some of the most painful moments of your life," she said. "It's something that carried me through so many times and so many things in my life."

"He never stopped laughing. He never lost the ability to laugh at himself, to laugh at his situation, to make fun of something that would otherwise feel like it was going to break you," Sweetin continued. "That was Bob."
