Met Gala 2025: Diana Ross shuts down carpet in gown with special family meaning
Diana Ross is coming out in style at the Met Gala.
The legendary singer shut down the carpet when she arrived at the star-studded event Monday night in an all-white gown, which featured a long train.
"It was not a plan, everything was really, really last moment," Ross told Vogue about her arrival. "My son persuaded me because I'm actually on tour. He said, 'Mom, you've gotta go.'"
She added that the inspiration behind her gown is: "Affair forever, family gown."
According to Vogue, Ross' 18-foot train had the names of her children and grandchildren embroidered on the inside.
"If you ever had pictures of the inside of the train, it has the names of all my children and my eight grandchildren," she said. "So everyone's names is embroidered in that."
She also accessorized the look with a matching oversized hat.
The look was a collaboration between Ross, her son Evan Ross and designer Ugo Mozie, according to Vogue.
Mozie shared an Instagram story of him putting the finishing touches of Ross' look together, including the tag, which read: "Eleven Sixteen For Diana Ross Met Gala 2025 Designed by Diana Ross & Ugo Mozie."
Ross hasn't been to the Met Gala since 2003.
Her son, Evan Ross, who also wore a design by Ugo Mozie for Eleven Sixteen, said that he was "very excited" to see his mom at the Met Gala.
"She's the best thing of all time," he said. "She is the Met ball."
