Prince George, the eldest child of Prince William and Kate, the Princess of Wales, will start the new school year in a new school, Kensington Palace confirmed Tuesday.

George, who turns 13 in July, will follow in William's footsteps by attending Eton College, a boys' boarding school located near the Wales' family home in Windsor, England.

Both William and his younger brother, Prince Harry, attended Eton College for secondary school.

George will begin the new school year in September, according to the palace. He is expected to board as Eton College does not have day students.

For the past several years, George had attended Lambrook School, a prep school in Berkshire, England, with his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Like Lambrook School, Eton College is also located close to the Wales' family home, just a 15-minute drive away.

The Wales family moved from London to Windsor in 2022. Last year, the family-of-five moved to Forest Lodge, a home on the Windsor Estate.

William and Kate also still have their residence at Kensington Palace in London as well as Anmer Hall, their home on the royal family's Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
