Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley star in action-packed new teaser for 'The Substance': Watch here
"Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself? Younger? More beautiful? More perfect?" asks the opening seconds of the new teaser for "The Substance" starring Demi Moore, Margaret Qualley and Dennis Quaid.
Set to bass-heavy music, the fast-paced teaser, released by Mubi, breaks into a sequence of shots alternating between scenes of Moore and other characters appearing content, and shots of misery including one of Moore on the floor squealing in pain and a car accident.
The teaser centers around a green substance flashed on screen multiple times with a label reading "ACTIVATOR."
At one point, playing on the theme of image contortion, Quaid shouts "Pretty girls should always smile!" in an orange suit standing in front of a group of on-looking men.
That line is juxtaposed by shots of Qualley with blood on her face and Moore smearing lipstick on her face. Watch the full teaser for the film here.
"The Substance," which took home the award for 2024's best screenplay at Cannes Film Festival, is directed by Coralie Fargeat.
"Have you ever dreamt of a better version of yourself? You. Only better in every way. You should try this new product, The Substance. IT CHANGED MY LIFE," reads a vague synopsis of the film.
"The Substance" hits theatres Sept. 20.
