Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos reveal that their son Joaquin has graduated college
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos are parents to another college graduate.
During their "LIVE with Kelly and Mark" show on Monday, the co-hosts shared that their youngest son, Joaquin Consuelos, graduated over the weekend from the University of Michigan.
"We just returned from Ann Arbor, Michigan, where our newborn baby graduated university," Ripa said. "That's right. We are done."
Mark Consuelos added that he and Ripa had many questions about the day's agenda but found out from other parents -- mainly parents of other boys, they said -- that they were also left in the dark when it came to details about the schedule.
"What was interesting was we were talking to all of the other parents, we realized we weren't alone, because there's a bunch of information that parents need," he said.
Ripa added, "I'm going to gender stereotype. It was the moms of the boys that said, 'I had no idea this was even happening until you sent that group text.'"
The couple also revealed that their son performed in a theater showcase, which their daughter Lola Consuelos flew in from London to attend. Their eldest son, Michael Consuelos, joined the entire family for the big graduation ceremony later, Ripa and Consuelos said.
Ripa said her favorite part of the graduation was the student athlete graduation.
"They had a procession with this orchestral music," she said. "It was like going to the Olympics. It was so exciting."
She continued, "As they graduate, they walk across the stage, they were handing something [to them]. We saw the kids opening it up and looking at it and closing and it, and I was like, 'What is it? What have they been given?' And then [the school] said they are compasses with the coordinates to Ann Arbor, so whenever they feel lost, it will always direct them home."
In 2023, Lola Consuelos graduated from New York University's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU Tisch.
Michael Consuelos also graduated from NYU in 2020.
