Whatever resolutions you might be setting for yourself, the new year is always a great time for a physical clean out and mental reset.
Whether it be healthy eating, getting more sleep, or keeping your home organized, there are plenty of ways to feel motivated while kicking off 2023.
We tapped Holly Blakey, an organization and design expert from Breathing Room Organization, to share some tips on how to get organized.

Tip 1: Start out on the right foot daily
"So many habits, including having a more organized home, start with intentions, priorities and plans. I'm a big believer in creating daily routines to get calm, clear and mindful – which will directly have a big impact on your outer space," Blakey said.

Tip 2: Get yourself a quality planner and daily pad
"One of the greatest tools for successful organization are a planner and notepad. You need to create the time for the projects you want to tackle so that the week's don't keep passing you by and somehow you have no time," Blakey shared. "And remember – carving out time to do NOTHING should also be a priority. We're more efficient and effective when we give ourselves space to recharge."

Tip 3: Give your fridge a reset
"This is the perfect time of year to refresh your fridge, especially if you're trying to adopt healthier habits – with meals and with money." Blakey continued. "Take it all out, eliminate anything expired, never used and create logical zones for the categories you want your family to see and consume most often."

Tip 4: Simplify your daily zones
"Spaces like your entry, your drop zone or your vitamin/medicine cabinets need to be simplified so that these daily spaces add more time to your day, not take it away. Give each space a good edit – only keeping what you use on a consistent basis. Make the systems simple and not over complicated so that everything is accessible and easy to maintain."

Tip 5: Rotate your clothes
"I'm a big believer in rotating items like clothes and toys," Blakey said. "If you're not using them, find another home for them so you're not overwhelmed by 'stuff' each day. These sweater storage bags are a great space-saving solution for all your offseason items. You can slide them under your bed, place them up high in a closet or pack them away in the garage until next year."
