Whatever resolutions you might be setting for yourself, the new year is always a great time for a physical and mental reset.
Whether it be healthy eating, getting more sleep, or keeping your home organized, there are plenty of ways to feel motivated heading into 2022.
We tapped Holly Blakey, an organization and design expert from Breathing Room Organization, to share some tips on how to get organized.

Tip 1: Declutter your kitchen cabinets
"This year, wouldn't it be nice to have drawers that actually can open?" Blakey noted. "This lid organizer is a simple way to give each lid a home so that you know where to find it when you need it, and so there aren't lids constantly sliding around each time you open the drawer."
Blakey added: "Maybe you've accepted that there's actually no space to keep your lids and pots together. Great! This organizer is the perfect solution to put lids in the cabinet next to the pots and pans. Plus, it slides out for easy retrieval (and easy putting away -- that's half the battle, right?!)"
Tip 2: Use less plastic in the new year
"If one of your resolutions this year is to use less plastic, these airtight glass canisters are the perfect budget-friendly solution," Blakey said. "And since I'm all about balance at Breathing Room, go ahead and fill them with candy ... and healthy snacks too."
"I'm sure everyone has seen the viral organizing TikTok videos," Blakey said. "There's a good reason those videos are so popular -- decanting everyday bulk items like detergent is not only satisfying to watch, but it's actually really practical. You can now happily have your detergent out on the counter, and it actually looks good in these pretty glass jars!"
Tip 3: Rotate the clothes in your closet
"I'm a big believer in rotating items like clothes and toys," Blakey said. "If you're not using them, find another home for them so you're not overwhelmed by 'stuff' each day. These sweater storage bags are a great space-saving solution for all your offseason items. You can slide them under your bed, place them up high in a closet or pack them away in the garage until next year."
Tip 4: Make the holidays easier next year by organizing decorations now
"Do yourself a big favor and organize all your holiday decorations now so that next year will be a breeze," Blakey said. "This ornament tray bin keeps everything neatly organized and also prevents them from breaking. Pro tip: if you have little helpers in your house, let them pack the ornaments back up. Kids love this bin!"
Tip 5: Make your pantry organized now to have healthier habits in the new year
"Whether you're planning healthier eating habits for the new year, or you simply need to get your pantry act together, these stackable bins will have your pantry not only looking better, but also way more functional," Blakey said. "Oh, and I love that they stack, which maximizes vertical space – a huge win if you're low on space!"
