Priyanka Chopra honors her mom for Mother's Day in moving speech
Priyanka Chopra had a special woman by her side at the 2026 Gold Gala.
Ahead of Mother's Day, the actress brought her mom to the event and paid tribute to her while accepting the Global Vanguard Honor.
"My mother, who's here with me tonight, Dr. Madhu Chopra," she began. "The kind of mother who is here taking care of my child while I go filming for three weeks."
She went on, "The kind of mother or a grandmother that my grandmother was -- I was raised with a lineage of very strong women that stood for each other and their achievements. Many people shouted out [their] mom talking about the power of education and stressing on having a skillset. Well I had that mother and so did my mother."
Chopra then thanked her mom for "being the foundation of who I am, for always being a student of life."
"I love you and you're beautiful," she added. "Happy Mother's Day."
On the gold carpet, Chopra spoke with "Good Morning America" and shared some of the lessons from her mom that she's passing down to her daughter Malti, whom she shares with husband Nick Jonas.
She said that "standing up for myself" was something she learned from her mom when she was young and is what she's teaching her daughter to do as well.
When asked about her favorite part of motherhood, Chopra said that she loves the "snuggles." Additionally, she said that she also loves being able "to shape a young personality."
For Mother's Day, Chopra said she had special plans with her mom, her mother-in-law, Denise Jonas, and "amazing mother figures in my life."
Chopra became a mom in January 2022 when she welcomed her daughter via surrogate.
The Global Vanguard Honor, which Chopra received, highlights the "Citadel" actress' global impact across entertainment and culture.
Other honorees also included "Beef" actor Charles Melton, who received the Gold Artistic Achievement Award, Olympic gold medalist Eileen Gu, who received the Gold Impact award, Jet Li, who received the Gold Legend award, Revathi Advaithi, who was awarded the Forbes Golden honor, and Simu Liu, who received the Gold Mogul award.
