The 2024 Oscars have come and gone, and "Oppenheimer" was the big winner of the night.

Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 96th Academy Awards, a ceremony which honored excellence in cinematic achievements for some of the past year's biggest films.

"Oppenheimer" earned seven Oscars from its 13 total nominations, including the top prize of the night, best picture, as well as best director for Christopher Nolan.

In the lead acting categories, "Poor Things" star Emma Stone took home the award for best actress while "Oppenheimer" star Cillian Murphy took home best actor.

"The Holdovers" star Da'Vine Joy Randolph and "Oppenheimer" star Robert Downey Jr. snagged wins in the supporting acting categories.

Jamie Lee Curtis, Marlee Matlin, Laverne Cox and more hit the red carpet

Jamie Lee Curtis and more have arrived at the Oscars.

Curtis, who won best supporting actress at last year's Oscars for her performance in "Everything Everywhere All at Once," stepped out on the red carpet in a black gown.

Other stars who have arrived so far include Oscar winner Marlee Matlin, who stepped out on the carpet in a sparkling lilac gown, and Laverne Cox, who walked the carpet in a gown with a gold corset top and black skirt.

Grandmothers from 'Nǎi Nai & Wài Pó' hit red carpet

Taiwanese-American director Sean Wang and his two grandmothers Chang Li Hua and Yi Yan Fuei arrived on the red carpet in style in red-themed flower-patterned outfits.

Wang's film "Nǎi Nai & Wài Pó," which is nominated tonight for best documentary short film, is about his grandmothers and documents the inspiring lives of both women, who use humor and grace to tell their stories.

Joining Wang and his grandmothers on the red carpet was Sam Davis, the film's co-producer and cinematographer.

Ahead of the 96th Academy Awards, actress Angela Bassett, comedy legend Mel Brooks, film editor Carol Littleton and Michelle Satter, the founding director of the Sundance Institute's feature film program, received honorary Oscars at the Governors Awards.

Brooks, Bassett and Littleton were given honorary awards, while Satter was honored with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award.

The honorees were celebrated during a star-studded dinner event in Los Angeles.

Bassett, who spoke to "Good Morning America" at the event, shared what receiving an honorary Oscar meant to her.

Who won at last year's Oscars?

"Everything Everywhere All at Once" won the most awards at the 2023 Oscars, taking home seven Academy Awards, including the coveted trophy for best picture and the best director Oscar.

Michelle Yeoh made history that night when she became the first Asian woman to win best actress for her role in "Everything Everywhere All at Once."

Additionally, Yeoh's "Everything Everywhere All at Once" co-stars Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis won in the supporting actor and actress categories.

Brendan Fraser took home the Oscar for best actor for his performance in "The Whale."

Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell's 'What Was I Made For?' wins best original song

Billie Eilish and Finneas O'Connell won the Oscar for best original song.

The sister and brother duo's hit song, "What Was I Made For?" from "Barbie," marked the duo's second Oscar win for best original song. They previously won the award in 2022 for their song "No Time To Die" from the James Bond film of the same name.

During their acceptance speech, Eilish said she felt "so incredibly lucky" and "honored" to take home the award.

"Thank you for this," she said. "I'm so grateful for this song and for this movie and the way that it made me feel, and -- this goes out to everyone who was affected by the movie and how incredible it is."

Other nominees in the category included "The Fire Inside" by Diane Warren from "Flamin' Hot," "I'm Just Ken" by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt from "Barbie," "It Never Went Away" by Jon Batiste from "American Symphony" and "Wahzhazhe (A Song For My People)" by Scott George from "Killers of the Flower Moon."
